Kumar, who doubled up as a tailor and a labourer, is a native of Bihar’s Muzaffarpur and has been on the run ever since the incident came to light on April 15. Two teams have been sent to Muzaffarpur to nab him.

Investigation into the case has also revealed that Kumar was involved in a property trespass case lodged against him by his father in 2010, sources said.
“His father had lodged the case following a property dispute. He later disowned him and had asked him to leave the house. After that, Kumar started living in a rented accommodation in the same locality,” said a police officer.

The room on the ground floor from where the victim was rescued was rented out to him by Bhim Singh Chaudhry only 10 ago. As is the norm, he did not get his police verification done.

During investigation, it was learnt that Kumar did not interact much with his neighbours.

The girl’s family has alleged that the landlord disposed of the blood-stained clothes of the girl before he too went missing with his son. The police are now looking for the two and have picked up Kumar’s father and other relatives for questioning.
