Sena activists took to streets last evening after hearing the appointment of Boraste, former BJP Deputy Mayor, as the party's city president and burnt effigies of Raut at CIDCO locality, they said.

However, the situation in the area is reported to be calm, police added.

Meanwhile, Boraste told reporters that "I will try my best to take my party at high level again."
