Philippe Stoll, an ICRC spokesperson said that this was a planned visit and had nothing to do with the Sunday's incident inside the jail in which at least 21 detainees and 15 police personnel were injured in clashes.

Stoll said that the team heard the assessment of the jail authorities but could not hear the detainees due to which the full purpose of the visit was not served.

The meeting of the ICRC team with the detainees has been postponed indefinitely.

Asked whether the ICRC was concerned over the condition of the detainees inside the high security Kot Bhalwal Jail, Stoll said that the ICRC was concerned over the condition of the detainees in all parts of the world "it is our primary concern," he said.
