Glitz, glamour and great cinema marked day one of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival that kicked off on Wednesday night in France. Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett strolled up the red carpet for a gala screening of their film, Robin Hood, directed by Ridley Scott.
Blanchett joked to the paparazzi, “I wanted to be Robin Hood rather than Maid Marian but the part was taken.” “Cannes is great glamour, great craziness. There’s nothing like it in the world, not even the Oscars,” said British actress Helen Mirren. Thousands of star-gazers cheered as celebs like Eva Longoria, Aishwarya Rai, and Salma Hayek filed in to watch the film.
