AIDSO leaders said admission to the AU was beyond the reach of common students, as the admission forms were unaffordable.

The Allahabad University authorities should bring down the cost of forms so that common students could get admission into the varsity. Those present on the occasion were AIDSO Allahabad University president Rajvendra Singh, Pawan Pandey, Vinod Kumar, Vivek, Ajay Sharma and Rajvendra among others.

Protest continues: Student leaders continued their protest against the change in rules for admission under Urdu, Arabic quota, reduction of seats in the varsity and demanded implementation of Central fee structure in the varsity.

The student leaders lodged their protest by hanging an effigy of V-C Prof RG Harshe and raised slogans against the AU authorities. A meeting was also held on the occasion.

Speaking at the meeting, Zia Kaunen Rizvi and Abhishek Shukla said that the students’ protests had no effect on the Allahabad University authorities who overlooked their demands.

Manoj Singh, Irshad Ullah, Abhishek Shukla, Sunil Dwivedi and Umesh Upadhyay expressed resentment against the decisions of the AU executive council to do away with additional classes and reducing seats in the varsity.

They alleged the varsity had adopted negative attitude towards the minority community by complicating admissions under Urdu, Arabic quota. Surendra Chaudhary and Lala Ram Saroj accused the VC of adopting policies against the minority and backward classes.
