In its recent developmental plan, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to set up refreshment centres and motels at the four-lane national highway between Fatehpur and Varanasi. and passing through Allahabad.

The refreshment centres will be set up at the roadsides and the land allotted for the purpose will be 450 square metres to two hectares.

NHAI has already prepared the standards for opening up such centres on all the four-lane road networks in the country. Private organisations will be invited for the purpose to construct the refreshment centres. These centres will be set up at a distance of every 50 km.

NHAI has already approved two spots between Fatehpur and Varanasi--one in Kaushambi near Muratganj close to Sasur Khaderi river while the other is in Handia. Both the land belonged to the Authority. Earlier, the land belonged to PWD which has been handed over to NHAI afterwards.

Meanwhile in order to provide maximum facilities to the passengers, the Uttar Pradesh Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and Reliance have joined hands to provide the facility of motels on the main roads of the state. This facility will be provided at Saini in Kaushambi for the first time where the facility of motel will be provided this year latest by  September.

The UPSRTC buses running between Allahabad and Kanpur will stop at Saini motel.

While giving this information, UPSRTC regional manager PR Belwariya said that the company will keep the prices modest for the passengers.  However, there is no such project for Allahabad-Lucknow road as the buses on this route stop at the restaurant of the Tourism Department situated near Rae Bareli. AK Singh, project director NHAI, informed that private land will be taken into consideration at those spots where NHAI doesn't owns the land.

Motels will also be connected to the cyber world.

With the process of construction of the highway, the overall facade of the roadside dhabhas has changed tremendously, especially the dhabas found on the Allahabad-Varanasi road which are slowly becoming more customer friendly.

Such facility will help in providing hygienic food to the passengers and they could also find a place for retreat. Both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned facility will be provided to the passengers.

Another meeting will be held soon and more such plans are surely on the cards.
