They handed over a 21-point memorandum to the joint director.
They have decided to stage a dharna in Lucknow on January 10.
Addressing a meeting, Indrajeet Mishra and divisional president Shiv Dutt Narain said the council would launch a mobilisation drive in all the districts to garner the support of ad hoc principals to ensure success of the proposed demonstration.
They demanded that principals of UP Board High School and Intermediate colleges should be given equal status as that of principals of Central Schools.
Expressing his views on this occasion, Gorakh Lal demanded promotions for principals in self-financed schools.
He said principals should be given the status of nominated secretary in the managing committee of schools.
He also demanded revision in the fee structure in various classes, better infrastructure in schools and constituting an education grant commission at the State-level as per the UGC.
He further said the post of vice-principal should be created in all the schools, an education advisory committee should be constituted at the district-level and the retirement age for principals should be 65 years.
Dinesh Chand Pandey, Radheyshyam Mishra, Dr Ajay Mani Tripathi and Munni Lal Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
