Relief for MPSEB as mercury dips

THE UNSEASONAL drizzle and rainfall in some parts of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, has provided some relief for the MPSEB as the peak demand has tumbled by 400 Mega Watt (MW) with a dip in the mercury.

THE UNSEASONAL drizzle and rainfall in some parts of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, has provided some relief for the MPSEB as the peak demand has tumbled by 400 Mega Watt (MW) with a dip in the mercury.

However the state is still short of 1150 MW during the evening (peak) hours. The urban areas in the state on Friday didn’t witness erratic power supply. The MPSEB has total of 4250 MW of electricity against the peak demand of 5400 MW at the moment. Two days back the peak demand was 5800 MW.

At the moment the MPSEB thermal and hydel power stations, including Centre-state joint venture Indira Sagar Project, are generating 1770 MW and 1050 MW respectively during peak hours. Apart from this, MP is getting 1410 MW from the Central sector and is buying 20 MW power during the peak hours.
