But, he said it was heartening to note that the youth were aware of the ground realities and could foil any move to boost the morale of separatist forces.
He said the Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh provided Muslims with 5 per cent reservation and the Tamil Nadu Government planned a similar measure. Pursuance of appeasement policies by the Congress-led governments would sow the seeds of division in the society, he added.
He lambasted the Union Government’s plan to establish Urdu schools on the lines of Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country.
Kothari called upon youth to come forward to foil sectarian policies of political parties and maintain the integrity of the nation. He claimed the Congress-led Union Government planned to give 15 per cent reservation to minorities in every department. Besides, the government was aiding the madrasas, which were the “breeding ground of terrorism”.
Member of Legislative Council Dr YD Singh said reservation on religious grounds would demoralise the youth. It was unjust to demand reservation on religious grounds, he said. Former vice-chancellor Prof UP Singh blamed the Congress and literate minorities for division of the country.
