Remove encroachments from highways : HC

THE LUCKNOW bench of the High Court on Wednesday directed the National Highway Authority, the Public Works Department (PWD) and the CPWD jointly to ensure removal of encroachments and illegal construction on either side of the national highways in the city. The court fixed July 20 for the next hearing.

THE LUCKNOW bench of the High Court on Wednesday directed the National Highway Authority, the Public Works Department (PWD) and the CPWD jointly to ensure removal of encroachments and illegal construction on either side of the national highways in the city. The court fixed July 20 for the next hearing.The Bench, comprising Justices U.K. Dhaon and Rakesh Sharma, passed the above orders on a PIL filed earlier by the Nishatganj Residents’ Welfare Association through advocate BK Singh. The petitioners sought removal of encroachments from the city area.The court summoned the director general of police (DGP), along with the SP (Traffic), on the date fixed to apprise the court of compliance of its earlier orders for installation of computerised traffic road signals at main crossings in the city.
