The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday directed Noida authorities to remove the seals placed on towers of Idea cellular company within two days and allow the telecom network to resume its services.

The order was passed by a Division Bench comprising Justices Prakash Krishna and Y C Gupta on a writ petition filed by the Idea Cellular Ltd, which had moved the court, alleging that its towers in Noida had been sealed without any prior notice from authorities.

While passing the order, the court also ticked off the city authorities, saying the "mobile towers were not installed/created by the cellular phone companies overnight. Without the connivance of Noida officials, the creation/installation of these towers appears to be not possible".

The court asked Noida authorities to file their counter affidavit within two weeks and apprise the court of action taken against those officials whose lapses could have been responsible for unauthorised installation of towers.

Significantly, the Lucknow Bench of the court had yesterday ordered de-sealing of all mobile towers in Noida while hearing a Public Interest Litigation.
