ANGRY RESIDENTS of around half a dozen localities ransacked Buxipur power sub-station late last night in protest against heavy power rostering in the city for the last three days. The power crisis deepened after the transformer at kotwali crossing developed snag three days back. The residents were especially angry with the apathetic attitude of the Power Corporation who were not taking any steps in repairing the damaged transformer. The residents ransancked the power sub-station after breaking open the lock of the office and damaged furniture.

The residents were especially angry with the apathetic attitude of the Power Corporation who were not taking any steps in repairing the damaged transformer.
The residents ransancked the power sub-station after breaking open the lock of the office and damaged furniture. On getting the information, the police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
It is to be noted that a feeder was burnt at kotwali crossing on Monday night which was not repaired till Tuesday evening. When finally it was repaired and power supply was resumed at night, the new feeder burnt once against.
Agitated residents of Mian Bazar, Askerganj and other localities reached Buxipur power substation and raised slogans against the Power Corporation officials.
Meanwhile, the employees at the substation disconnected the telephone line after locking the office they disappeared.
This further angered the residents and they ransacked the substation. Sources said that power employees has replaced 600 KVA feeder with 400 KVA feeder in bid to pacify the anger of the locals.
However, once the power supply was resumed, it could not take the load and burnt again, plunging the area into darkness for the second consecutive day on Tuesday.
Drinking water supply was also affected due to unscheduled prolonged hour power rostering. Residents of Turkmanpur, Narmal School, Patwari Tola and Hansupur were facing inconvenience in absence of drinking water.
