Hate driving around on a Saturday night looking for a free table at a restaurant for dinner? Making reservations at city restaurants just got simpler. has launched a mobile application that lets users make reservations at local eateries while on the move. You don’t even need to wait for a restaurant to open to make a reservation.

The application also offers subscribers a gamut of services such as the option to change their reservation time, add their favourite restaurants, avail offers at restaurants and search for restaurants with an empty table at a time convenient to them. The Java application, which was launched three months ago, is compatible with almost every phone and is free of cost. The application gives the consumer access to over 2,500 restaurants across the country, including 550-600 in Mumbai alone.

“Dining in restaurants is almost always an impulsive decision. This application works in real-time and brings down that decision-making time,” says Sunil Kallerackal, chairman, V-Resonate Inc, the company behind When you start the application, it searches for a restaurant on the basis of locality, cuisine and average service price. After selecting, you can go to that particular restaurant and book. The application then sends a message to the restaurant asking if a table is available at that time. Then, you either get a confirmation reservation message or the application offers you alternative options that you can choose from.

Currently, one needs to book a table two hours in advance, but the plan is to bring down this time to 30 minutes eventually. However, not each and every restaurant in an area is available on the phone. The focus is on fine-dining restaurants. Next up, you will be able to order takeaway, book celebration tables and business lunches from higher-end touch screen phones. You could also book tables using a data connection. The application will also be introduced on television sets. “We will launch these new services in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai initially,” says Kallerackal.
