Native of Jamaica, Richard Staple is a superb right hand batsman. Staple is tall and elegant is a ferocious striker of the ball.

He plays for Progressive Cricket Club in New York Metropolitan Cricket League, New York Region. At the moment he is the captain of the US National Team for the 2001 ICC Trophy. Richard captained both the Jamaican and West Indies youth teams at the Under-19 level.
