Trans-Gomti policing is no help.

The gang targets the rickshaw-pullers and cyclists and robs them of petty amount carried by the victims after daylong rigorous toil. Two peons of a private organization were robbed thrice during past six months but the cops did not register case even once despite being informed about the same. The victims even informed the cops that three other cyclists were robbed in their presence by the same gang. But, the policemen on patrolling duty ignored the information and no FIR was lodged in any of the incidents.

One of the peons Anil Kumar of Ghazipur fell prey to the gang second time in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Anil was returning home after night duty on his bicycle when about five youths intercepted him near Kukrail Embankment around 2 am.

As Anil was robbed at the same place one month back he assumed the intention of the youths. He raised an alarm but one of the youths whipped out a country-made firearm and aimed at the victim. Anil could not muster courage to shout while other miscreants frisked him and picked out Rs 450 from victim’s pocket.

The miscreants even tried to snatch Anil’s bicycle when they spotted two motorcycles heading towards the spot. The robbers left the victim and fled with the money. Since Anil was harassed by the policemen last time in the name of queries about the incident and no FIR was lodged then, he preferred to keep mum in this connection. Talking to the HT Lucknow Live, Anil said his colleague Shriram, also employed as peon, was robbed at the same place on March 14 night. The gang had then snatched the cash, which Shriram was carrying for the purchasing on Holy next morning.Shriram had informed the control room immediately and police jeep from Ghazipur police station had visited the spot later. Shriram revealed that he had seen the robbers staying around but no sooner the cops arrived there and blew the siren the gang fled from the scene.

Shriram even informed the police about the fact but the cops did not try to chase the miscreants.

About half-a-dozen victims of the same gang during past 15 days had informed the local police about the incidents but the cops did not take cognizance.
