Robbery accused held

THE GOVINDPURA police arrested a person for allegedly robbing a trader. The incident took place when the trader, SP Jain, 47, a resident of Shankracharya Nagar, who was going to Subhash Nagar in his auto-rickshaw, was robbed of Rs 5,000 cash, watch and a ring by two youths carrying swords.

The accused, Amjad alias Banti, 25, was arrested, on Friday. Amjad is a history-sheeter. The co-accused, Karan Pathak, is absconding.

In another incident, police arrested a man for burglary in Govindpura. Sumer Singh, 28, resident of Habibanj, was caught on the basis of tip-off and gold jewellery stolen from the house of Rajiv Yadav, resident of Shalimar Enclave, was recovered.
