The members of the family had installed the “Khanda” on the first Navratra, which was brought back to the Royal Palace on Sunday.

“I receive the palanquin on behalf of the royal family at the Renuka fair and perform the 'Khanda Puja' at the Kalisthan temple on every first Navratra,” said Kanwar Ajay Bahadur Singh, member and caretaker of the Royal Palace.

It was assumed that 10-year-old Lakshya Raj, grandson of Rajmata Padmini Devi of Jaipur, would perform the rituals of the princely state Sirmaur, but it did not happen.

Raj was crowned as the head of the royal family of Sirmaur on May 15 and former MLA and chairman of HIMFED Ajay Bahadur was declared as the custodian of the Royal Palace in the tilak ceremony of Lakshya Raj.

He said Rajmata of Jaipur was scheduled to visit the place for performing the rituals of the Royal family with her grandson, but the programme was cancelled at the last moment due to her busy schedule.
