Rs 100-cr sale in Noida jewellery market

The jewellery market in Noida witnessed a record sale of around Rs 100 crore on the occasion of Dhanteras on Sunday. According to traders, the sale of gold coins and other jewellery items doubled this year.

The jewellery market in Noida witnessed a record sale of around Rs 100 crore on the occasion of Dhanteras on Sunday. According to traders, the sale of gold coins and other jewellery items doubled this year.

"This year, we have sold gold worth Rs 100 crore. Last year, it was around Rs 50 crore," said Sudhir Singhal of Noida Jewellers Association, who also runs a shop at Sector 18, Noida.

The scene was no different in Ghaziabad. People in large number thronged markets to buy gold ornaments/ coins and utensils.

Manoj Goyal, member of the Ghaziabad Entrepreneurs Associat-ion, said, "Goods worth Rs 70 crore were purchased form the city on Dhanteras. There has been a year-on-year rise of Rs 1.5 crore in sales."
