Rs 13 cr allotted for State urban areas

THE STATE Government has allotted Rs13 crore to resolve water crisis in the urban areas. Purchase of water pumps, digging of new hand pumps, extension of pipelines and requisition of reservoirs would be made with the allotted money.

THE STATE Government has allotted Rs13 crore to resolve water crisis in the urban areas. Purchase of water pumps, digging of new hand pumps, extension of pipelines and requisition of reservoirs would be made with the allotted money.

Besides this, the Department of Urban Administration has given Rs 65 lakh to 38 local bodies of 26 districts for drinking water arrangements, according to an official press release.

Shivpuri Municipal Council has been given Rs1.55 crore for water supply and Rs 1.29 crore has been made available to Datia municipal council for its interim water augmentation scheme.

The district collectors have been asked to design action plan before the water crisis. They have been directed to send early proposals for extension of pipelines and installation of hand pumps depending on their needs. They have been also suggested to find out water availability and check ground water level of the area to avoisd problems in installation of hand pumps.

A close watch over rural power feeder was also advised for regular water supply. Detailed information has also been sought from the district collectors relating to incomplete work, dried water sources and schemes for permanent solutions for facing the water crisis.

Any new scheme proposed for the same should be sent for the approval. The district collectors were instructed to take necessary action under Drinking Water Preservation Act to resolve water crisis.
