The hospital authorities said they were forced to take action after their staff was again manhandled on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the police have filed an FIR on the basis of the complaint.

“The family of Jyoti (20), hailing from Ghata village, manhandled a woman security personnel on Tuesday. We have lodged an FIR,” said Devlina Chakravarty, chief operating officer, Artemis Health Institute.

The incident took place after the family protested against the “exorbitant charges” demanded by the hospital.

On Monday, the family of a patient went on a rampage, alleging that the hospital was demanding huge amount for the treatment.

The hospital authorities alleged that the family manhandled doctors, damaged cars and forcibly locked the gates.

Jyoti was seven months pregnant when she was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on November 19 last year.

Jyoti had suffered multiple injuries on her abdomen, a spine fracture and pancreatic trauma. She underwent a caesarean operation on November 22.

Meanwhile, the patient’s family could not be contacted for comments. The police said they would take appropriate action.
