There is this one must-do in my calendar year, which I am very superstitious about and that is my annual visit to the four places of pilgrimage - Balaji, Shirdi, Tirupathi and Sathya Sai Baba. I take at least three weeks off along with my family and wouldn't miss it for the life of me.

I cannot divulge what I ask for when I visit these temples but obviously if I have been going for the past so many years, there has to be some good reason for it. Needless to add, these jaunts, which is what they turn out to be since it's chilling out blended with the call of duty - have proved to be extremely rewarding and nothing in this world would make me miss them.

But I am not superstitious in the sense that one would associate a typical naïve believer of irrational rituals with. In fact, there have been times when I have defied the conventional norms. For instance, much against the wishes of my closest relatives and friends, I had kept a black cat, which both my sister and I adored. I didn't think it was ominous in any way but everyone who knew us assumed that we were into some sort of black magic! When it passed away, I realised that it was one of our most treasured possessions. I even feel I was superstitious about its presence in our lives.

Unlike other stars, I have never had any superstition about starting a film on a particular day or time or for that matter about not working on Saturdays or any day of the week. A film's prolonged mahurat is enough to ward off any mishap! I take my job as a professional actor very seriously and wouldn't want my producers to suffer at any cost.
