"I brought this goat all the way from Jaipur as I knew that the Lucknow market has fantastic demand," said 32-year-old Imran Pathan who claims he had planned to gift the goat to his favourite actor Salman Khan.

"Since I could not get access to him, I decided to bring the goat here and sell it at a good price," he said.

Business was brisk for all goat sellers who converged here from different parts of Uttar Pradesh as well as some neighbouring states.

"Over 100,000 goats were traded in the Lucknow market today," said Fardeen, a wholesale dealer.

"While a normal sized goat fetched anything between Rs 1,800 and Rs 2,500, there were goats that got sold for up to Rs 45,000", he added.
