"Around 7-8 girls had complained to their parents about Gaurishankar Dube, the headmaster of Government Girls Middle School, often talking to them in obscene and insulting manner," a sub-inspector of Moti Nagar police station said.

The group of parents had gathered in the school in Kakaganj area and thrashed Dube, who is absconding since then, he said.

Later, they filed a complaint against the headmaster in Moti Nagar police station.

Based on the complaint, a case was filed under IPC Sections 354 (criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman) against Dube.

The teacher was also booked under relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act (some of the victims were Dalits/tribals) and Prevention of Children Against Sexual Offences Act, the police official added.
