This was unanimously resolved at a meeting attended by sants and activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bharatiya Janata Party, here on Friday.

Hundreds of people, led by Peethadeeshwar Phalhari Tulsigiri Maharaj, took out a torchlight procession from Deoraha Baba temple to the Sangam.

They expressed resentment against government ‘apathy’ towards the demand of releasing unobstructed Ganga water from Tehri dam.

Addressing a meeting in the Sangam area, Tulsigiri Maharaj criticised the State Government for alleged not taking into consideration the demands of the sants and devotees who were camping here for the month-long Magh Mela.

BJP leader Shanu Bhatt warned the government to immediately intervene into the Tehri dam issue or else party activists would decide the future course of action.

Abhaiyeshwar Prapannacharya of Deoraha Sewashram, Swami Madhavmath, Onkar Nath Giri, Bhavani Giri, Munesh Mishra, Pappu Singh and Sangeeta Srivastava also addressed the meeting.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi expressed concern over the alleged inaction by the State Government regarding pollution in the Sangam. He was addressing party workers at his residence here on Saturday.
