Saran Superintendent of Police Jagmohan said that three persons, who were arrested while "distributing money among the voters near Dariapur police station" last evening, later confessed at the police station that they were doing so at the "behest" of Rai, the RJD candidate for Parsa assembly seat.
"Since Rai has also been named accused in the case, I ordered his arrest", the SP said.
A vehicle allegedly owned by Rai was also seized from the spot, he said.
Independent candidate arrested
Former Bihar minister and Independent candidate for Garkha assembly seat Muneshwar Chaudhary was detained on Saturday while moving around in his constituency in Saran district during polling, Police Superintendent Jagmohan said.
Jagmohan said that Chaudhary was under preventive detention at Mithapur police station.
"The authorities detained Choudhury apprehending that his movement might cause disturbances during the poll," he said.
