Varinder Kaur had gone there to ask for a permanent job. She was waiting for SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur when she was beaten up by Balwinder Singh for raising the issue.

The act, caught on camera and posted on YouTube, caused an uproar. But a day later, no action had been taken against Singh despite the state ordering an FIR.

Harsimrat Kaur condemned the incident. With assembly polls just months away, the Akali Dal tried to play down the matter.
