However, officials claim that about six armed criminals who fired on the Haryana police team at Hodal in Palwal district on Monday have been identified and they all belong to Uttar Pradesh.

"We have identified about half a dozen criminals who fired on the police team. They all belong to different parts of Uttar Pradesh," Hodal deputy superintendent of police Dharampal said, adding, "The identity of these criminals cannot be disclosed as the same may affect in their early arrest."

"Yes, joint search operations by Haryana, UP and Rajasthan police have been intensified in different states to arrest the prisoner and the gang of criminals who killed ASI of Haryana Police and fled along with the prisoner," said Bhanu Bhaskar, senior superintendent of police, Mathur.

Meanwhile, KK Sharma, inspector general of police, Rewari, visited the place of incident at Hodal on Tuesday where the ASI was shot dead by the criminals.

Bachu Singh, a resident of Kharot village under Kosi police station in Mathura district, had allegedly killed five persons in the last few years as revenge for his father Amar Singh's murder in 1993.

"This 24-year-old man has about 13 cases pending against him and was arrested in June 2010," Arun Kumar, SHO, Kosi, said.

"Now that he has fled from Haryana Police custody, every possible effort is being made by police of different states to nab him and his accomplices," added SHO Kumar.
