STATE PRESIDENT of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kesharinath Tripathi has accused the State Election Commission (SEC) of turning a blind eye to the blatant violation of the election code of conduct by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his ministers.

He was in the city to address a public meeting in support of the BJP candidates contesting local bodies election but the district administration denied permission.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday Tripathi accused the chief minister and his ministers of violating the election code of conduct. In this connection he pointed out the state-sponsored functions of the chief minister for distributing Kanya Vidhya Dhan cheques. CM’s functions related to the distribution cheques had taken place at Meerut and Etawah in gross violation of the election code,” he said adding that the next function was scheduled to take place in Allahabad on October 27. Venting his ire at the State Election Commission the BJP leader said that it should have stopped such functions from taking place at this stage.
Further targeting the election commission, Tripathi said that in gross violation of the norms the chief minister, in the midst of the election process, had announced to appoint the chief election commissioner of the state as vice-chancellor of a university after three months. “In such a scenario how can one expect the State Election Commission to remain impartial,” asked Tripathi.
Tripathi also asserted that a petition would be filed in the High Court against the biased approach of the State Election Commission.
He also alleged that changes in the voter list of several districts had been made at the instance of the State Government.
Referring to a book written by former Joint Director of CBI MK Dhar, Triapthi said that the chief minister of a Central Indian state and 12 of his MLAs were ISI agents.
Replying to a query the BJP leader said that a list of rebels in the local bodies election and those party workers supporting them had been solicited and action would be taken against them.
Development and increasing terrorist activities would be the electoral issues of the party.
