Security has been tightened around key installations across India in the wake of the London bombings, officials said on Friday, as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh strongly condemned the terror strike that left at least 37 people dead.

Television channels reported that the Home Ministry ordered all states to continue a high alert around all security installations, religious buildings and public transport systems already in place since an attack Tuesday by terrorists in Ayodhya.
Security was stepped up in particular at New Delhi's Metro, with additional personnel being deployed and frisking intensified.
Intelligence agencies had warned that the Metro could become a target of terrorists who were keen on carrying out some sensational action, he added.
The Prime Minister, who is attending the Group of Eight (G8) industrialized nations' summit in Britain, said Thursday's London bombings underscored the contention that "terrorism is a global scourge" that needed to be tackled through concerted efforts.
"Just a couple of days back, India faced a major terrorist attack and these incidents show that global terrorism does not recognise international boundaries and we all need to work together to counter it," Singh said.
