Speaking at the seminar, Dr Raj Tilak said that the breast-fed babies proved to be much more intelligent than those fed by bottled milk. Head of the department of pediatrics, Medical College Dr VN Tripathi, who attended the seminar as chief guest, said that for proper care of infants, kangaroo care system was the best as it not only maintained the baby’s body temperature but also gave emotional attachment between the baby and the mother. “It is quite necessary for physical as well as the mental development of the infant,” he said.
Addressing the mothers present at the seminar, Dr Tilak said that they should not remain under illusion that bottle-feeding could provide additional nutrition to their babies. Speaking about the advantages of the breast-feeding, Dr Sunil Taneja said that this milk increases the resistance power of the infant. He also told the mothers about the correct method of feeding.
According to Dr Taneja, after various assessments it has been proved that the concentration power of the breast-fed babies is much more than the bottled-fed toddlers.
They also suggested six ways to keep the baby healthy. They are—delivery needs proper medical care, body temperature of the baby should be maintained, should use kangaroo care system, infant should not be given a bath just after his birth, breast feeding and study of child behaviour.
