The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex closed lower by 267 points on Friday on heavy selling by funds despite better than expected quarterly results announced by IT major Satyam Computers.

The 30-share sensitive index plunged by 267.03 points at 10,085.51 points after touching the day's low of 10,035.34 points.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty ended lower by 78.05 points at 2,945 points. Earlier in the day, it witnessed a low of 2,930.15 points.
Earlier, the Sensex had rolled down, losing 311.82 points at mid-session.
The selling activity was spread over a wide front and pulled down almost all segment stocks, placing the Sensex down by 311.82 points at 10,041.12 at 1.00 pm.
The National Stock Exchange index Nifty had also lost 91.85 points to 2,931.20.
For most part of the day, Satyam Computers remained in positive mode and recorded a gain of Rs 3.70 at Rs 692.25, while other IT stocks like Infosys, Wipro and Tata Consultancy traded lower.
