The benchmark BSE Sensex crashed by 292 points in pre-close trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday with most of the index-related stocks closing in the red on heavy selling by funds.

The Sensex was down by 292.71 points at 10,120.22 half-an-hour before the end of the trading session.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty lost 90.30 at 2960.00.
The selling activity spilled over a wide-front which pulled down all the 30 Sensex-related stocks, including those in the metal segment.
