Sensex down 65 points in early trade
Sensex succumbs to profit-taking and quotes 65.88 points down at 14,216.84 pts in the first five minutes of trading.Updated: Jan 29, 2007 11:02 IST
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex witnessed a volatile trade on Monday morning and was down by over 65 points on profit-selling by funds as well as retail investors.
The 30-share index which rose to 14,316.54 points at the outset, succumbed to profit-taking and quoted 65.88 points down at 14,216.84 points in the first five minutes of trading.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty was down by 20.70 points at 4127.00 after rising to 4167.15.
Major losers which dragged the Sensex were Grasim Industries, ACC, Gujarat Ambuja Cement, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Infosys Technologies, ITC Ltd and Hindsutan Lever.
