The benchmark Sensex rose over 38 points on Thursday in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on sustained buying by funds and retail investors.
The 30-share index, Sensex, gained 38.71 points at 13987.71 in the first five minutes of trading.
The major support came in from heavy-weights like Reliance Industries, Maruti Udyog, Larsen and Toubro, Tata steel and HDFC Bank.
Similarly, the wide based National Stock Exchange Nifty rose by 1.85 points at 4027.70.
