Police have also issued an advisory to corporate houses, industrial units and individuals asking them not to employ security guards from unlicenced agencies.

The police department has started an audit of private security agencies to ensure compliance of safety norms required as per the Private Security Agencies Act.

“We had given private security agencies one year to get the license. The city police have also asked private firms to make a database with details of their security guards. We have asked them to provide them with proper training as per the law and instruct them properly to face all kinds of situations,” said SS Deswal, Gurgaon police commissioner.

There are around 150 private security guard agencies in the city. It is the responsibility of agency owners to follow all the protocols, Deswal added.

He further said the companies who are taking the service of such agencies should also be aware about the verification process. They should hire only those agencies that have a valid licence.

Firms that don’t get a licence within the stipulated deadline will be blacklisted and the police will also take strict action against them. Names and telephone numbers of blacklisted companies will be uploaded on their website too, Deswal said.
