Seven children burnt alive in Rohtak

The children were playing in the area when fire engulfed the hutment while their parents were away working in the nearby fields.

Seven children under six years of age were charred to death when their hutment caught fire in Bohar village near Rohtak on Friday.

The children were playing in the area when fire engulfed the hutment while their parents were away working in the nearby fields.

The villagers managed to put off the blaze before the fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene.

The bodies of the children aged between two and six, including four girls, were found when the villagers searched through the charred remains of the huts after extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the fire was not known, the villagers told the police and the media which reached the village from Rohtak.

The bodies have been sent for post mortem, police said.

The children were identified as Vikas, Vinay, Anu, Mukesh, Muskan and Tanu.

Senior police and civil officers, including the Superintendent of Police Subash Yadav, have reached the village.
