The driver of the SUV, in which the victims were travelling, allegedly lost control over the wheels following which the vehicle rammed into a house on the roadside at Bodanam village in Kurnool around 3 AM, Additional Superintendent of Police Sasi Kumar said. The deceased, who were going to Tirupati for offering prayers to Lord Balaji, belonged in the age group of 22-35.
All of them were a resident of Baramati in Maharashtra's Pune district, he said. Five of the victims died on the spot, while two succumbed later, Kumar said. Three residents of the house also sustained injuries in the mishap, he added.
