Lightning struck the electricity meter of Ramesh Raut's thatched hut in Gondi Mohgaon village on Thursday, causing a live wire to fall on it. The hut caught fire as a consequence and all occupants, who were asleep then, were burnt to death, police said.

The deceased include Raut, his four children aged between eight and 15, Raut's brother Haridas and his daughter, police added.
