Seven rickshaws damaged

IN A related incident, seven auto rickshaws owned by members of a particular community were damaged last night. All the rickshaws were parked in a stand at Sanjay Setu, which is owned by one Chiranjeet Singh. Apparently, the rickshaw drivers had a fight with Chiranjeet Singh when he took parking fees from him, as they believed that he was doing so illegally.

It is not known who damaged the rickshaws. But, now, the auto rickshaw drivers have lodged a report at the Central Kotwali police station at the behest of Congress party leaders that their vehicles were damaged by Kamal Waghela, Rajesh Bijwe, Nanda Bai and others at 9.30 am today.

SEARCH OPERATION: Meanwhile, police have launched a search operation in the Toda area and are checking houses in the entire stretch for arms and explosives.

Around a dozen people have been rounded up, most of who have criminal records. There was once again tension in the area when the search operation started and police started arresting people, but heavy police force managed to keep any untoward incident at bay.
