Several dead as military plane crashes in Tehran

There are no clear indications of the number of people on board the Antonov 74 aircraft that crashed shortly after takeoff.

An Iranian Revolutionary Guards military plane crashed early on Monday at Tehran's Mehrabad airport killing several people, a state TV channel reported.

There were no survivors when the Antonov 74 aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, the director of the airport told the channel. He did not say how many people were on board.

The plane was heading for Shiraz in the south of Iran and several members of the Revolutionary Guards had been killed in the accident, the channel said.
