Shah Rukh Khan-Shahid Kapoor to co-host IIFA awards
Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor are set to host an award show together, again. And this time around, it is for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards in Macau on July 4.
Shah Rukh Khan, who invariably goes home with some of the top honours every time he attends an awards ceremony, will make an appearance at one for a different reason this year. The actor will host the upcoming 14th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards in Macau. Shahid Kapoor will be joining him on stage as his co-host.
However, this won’t be the first time Shahid and Shah Rukh will come together for such an event. The duo has previously hosted two editions of another film awards function in 2010 and 2012.
"I have hosted with SRK sir before and it’s always a privilege sharing a platform with him," says Shahid, who anchored IIFA with Farhan Akhtar last year. "I had a blast and Farhan was a great co-host. I will miss him this year."
Incidentally, Shah Rukh last anchored the IIFA Awards eight years ago (in 2005, in Amsterdam) with filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Fardeen Khan. He also performed at the 2004 and 2011 editions of the function, in Singapore and Toronto, Canada, respectively. This year, however, the organisers are not sure whether SRK will be in a condition to shake a leg on stage, as the actor recently underwent surgery for his injured shoulder. His right shoulder is currently in a brace and he has been advised complete rest by the doctor.
While actors like Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit and Abhishek Bachchan are also expected at the event, director-choreographer Prabhudheva will perform a dance-off of sorts with Sridevi.
