Bhagalpur Central Jail Superintendent NK Singh said that Shahabuddin was sent to Siwan under heavy police escort by road early this morning.
The Bihar government had on Saturday decided to shift Shahabuddin, who represents Siwan in the Lok Sabha, to speed up the trial of cases registered against him.
The state police headquarters has asked authorities in Siwan to make necessary security arrangements in the jail there, they said.
The Patna High Court had recently ordered the speedy trial of cases against Shahabuddin pending in a Siwan court.
Other courts of Siwan had also issued warrants for producing the MP before them for examination of witnesses in cases in which charges have already been framed.
