Shahjahanpur trounce Harda

TOWN HALL Club, Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh) blanked District Hockey Association, Harda, 7-0 in the inaugural match of the 50th All India Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, which was inaugurated at Gandhi Mini Stadium in Itarsi on Sunday.

TOWN HALL Club, Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh) blanked District Hockey Association, Harda, 7-0 in the inaugural match of the 50th All India Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, which was inaugurated at Gandhi Mini Stadium in Itarsi on Sunday.

The second match was played between Uttaranchal team and City Sports Club, Bina. Bina team defeated Uttaranchal 3-0. Member of Parliament Sartaj Singh was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. The District Hockey Association and Municipality are organising the tournament jointly.

Municipal chairman Prakash Ballabh Soni, leader of opposition in the Municipality Ajay Shukla, representative of the Member of Parliament, Hansrai, and senior hockey player Kalu Kaptan were present. District Hockey Association president Suresh Dubey and secretary, organising committee, Sadan Verma, welcomed all the guests.
