Shahnawaz assails Digvijaya for defaming Anna

"Digvijay Singh is always trying to defame the BJP as well as Anna Hazare. It seems that he has taken a contract for it," BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said in Bhagalpur.

The BJP on Sunday slammed Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh for allegedly casting aspersions on social activist Anna Hazare and the saffron party.

"Singh is always trying to defame the BJP as well as Anna Hazare. It seems that he has taken a contract for it," BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters in Bhagalpur.

He claimed that BJP leader L K Advani's 'Jan Chetna Yatra' had made the Congress "desperate and afraid" and therefore the party leaders were indulging in mud-slinging against BJP and Hazare.

In his latest verbal attack, Digvijay, who is known for his swipes at Team Anna, said "simpleton" Anna Hazare was being made a scapegoat to fulfil the political ambitions of some "very smart people" in his own team.

To a question, Hussain said Congress' plan to hand over party charge for Uttar Pradesh Assembly election to Rahul Gandhi would not do any miracle.
