Union Consumer Affairs minister and JD-U leader Sharad Yadav who is locked in a do-or-die battle with RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav, declared his assets which stood at Rs 74.50 lakh, in the affidavit attached with his nomination papers. Of the three cases pending against him in Madhepura, the Chief Judicial Magistrate had taken cognisance in one in which the Patna High Court had suspended further proceedings.

Rs 20,000 cash in hand, besides deposits worth around Rs 30 lakh with different financial institutions; ICICI bonds to the tune of Rs 20,000 and subscribes to LIC policies of Rs 30 lakh; 21.56 acre agricultural land at Akhanmad village in Hoshangabad district, the value of which was estimated at Rs 30 lakh approximately, also owns a non-agricultural plot worth Rs 2.30 lakh in Madhepura, besides a flat worth around Rs 12 lakh in Delhi; owns 500 gm silver and 1.5 kg jewellery;doesn't have a vehicle in his name.
