Shiv Sena unit burns Pakistani flag, 5 held

Police raided the Shiv Sena office and arrested five people including the president for burning the Pak flag.

Five Shiv Sena activists including state president Anan Sharam were detained while a unit of the party on Monday. allegedly burned a Pakistani flag in Jammu, to protest against the country sponsoring terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

As the Sainiks were assembling at their Panjtirthi office for departure to Srinagar to unfurl the tricolour at Lal Chowk on Tuesday, police raided it and took five of them into custody, officials said. They would be released later, they said.

Another unit of the J&K Shiv Sena headed by Krishen Manhas took out a rally of some 200 activists and set afire to a Pakistani flag on its Independence Day, they said.

Raising anti-terrorist and anti-Pakistan slogans, they demanded closure of terrorist training camps in Pakistan and end of the violence sponsored by that country.
