The city police in charge, Sardar Piara Singh, produced him in the court of chief judicial magistrate Gurvinder Kaur, and requested for a day's police remand for further investigation into the matter.

Saharan, a retired government principal, had hurled his shoe at Jindal in a meeting of the Congressmen in the Kurukshetra Congress Bhawan in Kurukshetra on Friday in protest against removal of his son from a University job along with 75 other youths by the Hooda regime.

Saharan was roughed up by the Congress workers and later police arrested him under various sections of the IPC on the complaint of Ashok Kharkali, president of Kurukshetra district youth Congress (Rural).
