NOTED EYE surgeon Dr Pratap Singh Hardia has been selected for the ‘leading health professionals of the world 2006’ award by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England recently. Dr Hardia has also made a world record of performing largest number of surgeries. Dr Hardia has been honoured for his contribution in the field of medicine and services rendered to the society.

Rawat feted by UP Govt

CAMERA CLUB of Indore vice-president Praveen Rawat was felicitated with cash prize of Rs 5,000, certificate and memento by Uttar Pradesh PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav for his portfolio displayed at fourth exhibition organised by State Lalit Kala Academy Lucknow recently.

Noted artist Umesh Verma, Academy president Kunwar Brajendra Singh and secretary Indu Sinha were also present at the programme. Well-known photographers S Paul, N Tyagrajan, Bhawan Singh and Pradeep Saurabh adjudged a total of five best portfolios from 155 portfolios displayed in the programme.

Shukla appointed

DR SUMIT Shukla has been appointed as president of Brahman Antarashtriya Chikitsa Prakoshtha founded by Brahman Antarashtriya Yuva Mandal national president advocate Pandit Santosh Shukla. Yuva Mandal national general secretary Bharat Kumar Ojha ‘Bhanu’ said a swearing-in programme would be organised to administer oath to newly appointed office-bearers. Brahman Antarashtriya Sangathan founding president Prabhakar Mishra and other office-bearers have congratulated Dr Shukla.

Eye check-up camp

A TOTAL of 1150 people participated in an eye check-up camp organised under the aegis of Shri Jugal Pyari Than Charitable Trust to commemorate Baba Thakur Manghandas Sahib on Monday. Dr P S Hardia and others rendered services at the camp. A total of 64 patients were referred for eye surgery to Dr Hardia Advanced Eye Surgery and Research Centre.

Free spectacles, medicines and food were distributed among patients. Thakur Sai Mohan Das said that trust had bought two lakh square feet of land for construction of a school where education would be provided at nominal cost. Dr P S Hardia announced that a mass marriage ceremony would be organised next year.

Nawal elected

TEJPAL NAWAL was elected as president of Lions Club of Indore (East) for session 2006-07 recently. Navneet Rathi was elected vice-president and Shivshankar Garg, second vice-president. Prakash Gupta was elected secretary and Rajkumar Hirani, treasurer. Shiv Joshi was elected as joint treasurer while Sunita Birani was elected as tamer and Ashok Sodani was elected as tail twister. Other office-bearers were also appointed on the occasion.
