According to Aishbagh police, the victims, Ashfaq (25) and Afzal (30) had taken Rs 5,000 debt from the culprits some months ago. Since then the alleged culprits, Mohammad Wasim, Feroz, Lalu and their father Mohammad Rashid were pressurising the victims to return the money.

At 5.30 pm on Monday, the culprits again came to the victims’ house and began demanding Rs 5,000. When the two brothers expressed inability to repay the debt immediately, the culprits began abusing them.

The four men then drew knives and attacked the two brothers. Afzal sustained injuries on hands and legs and Ashfaq received a deep stab wound on neck. The culprits fled the spot after the incident.

Both brothers were admitted to a hospital for treatment where their condition was stated to be serious. Police registered a case of attempt to murder under the Section 307 IPC against four culprits who were absconding till this report was filed. A search has been launched to nab them, police said.
