GAS PEEDIT Sangharsh Sahyog Samiti Convener Sadhna Karnik today said that working trustee of Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre (BMHRC) Trust Aziz Ahmed Siddiqui has refused to furnish accounts of the Trust in his reply to registrar, public trusts.

Karnik and a couple of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) leaders had filed a petition before the registrar, public trusts during prolonged staff agitation at the hospital, urging him to seek clarification from the BMHRC Trust on certain issues. After the registrar issued notice to the Trust, Siddiqui submitted a reply to it on January 27.

She said the BMHRC working trustee admitted that some bills of the hospital were not paid by the patients. This, she said, heightened fears about ‘bungling ’ of lakhs by the trust by not realising bills from select paying patients.

Karnik said the reply does not have any reference to meetings of the Trust and an account of number of Trust members, who attended them. The Trust has also failed to give an exact reply regarding purchases made for the hospital, including medicines, furniture and construction material, she said.

Siddiqui, however, said that the reply covers all the queries raised in the notice and the registrar had himself not sought details regarding accounts of the Trust. In any case, accounts of the Trust are presented before the Supreme Court, he said.

“In our reply, I have made reference to Gas Relief Minister Babulal Gaur’s reply in the Assembly on a call attention motion on the BMHRC issue in the previous Assembly session. That is enough to discard the entire proceedings started by the registrar,” he asserted.
